Group - Based on various reports and surveys of laboratory acquired infections microorganisms are classified into different groups based on the risk of infection posed by them. There are five such classification systems proposed by the following agencies.
1. United States Public Health Service
2. World Health Organization (WHO)
3. United Kingdom's Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP)
4. European Union (EU)
5. European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB)
