Epilithon Epixylon Episammon- Epilithon is another community which includes the attached microorganisms found on the rocks and stones of the aquatic environment. Epixylon refers to the microorganisms found on the fallen woods in water bodies. Sand grains also support microbial growth and the associated microorganisms are referred to as episammon.
