Filamentous Spore Forming Microorganisms - Both actinomycetes and fungi are spore-forming filamentous microorganisms. Inspite of their spore-forming ability they are found in very low numbers in groundwater ecosystems. However their contributions to the aerobic heterotrophic metabolism is quite high within the larger subsurface microbial community.
