Lakes and Ponds

Lakes and Ponds- Lakes and ponds constitute freshwater habitats along with rivers and streams. The study of flora and fauna of lakes and ponds and their abiotic characteristics is referred to as limnology. They are regarded as well defined ecosystems. Lakes can be classified on the basis of their productivity and nutrient contents into two types oligotrophic lakes and eutrophic lakes.
