Inhibitors Of Nucleotide Precursors BioSynthesis Azaserine And 6 Diazo5 oxo L Norleucine(DON) - These structurally similar antibiotics produced by streptomycetes are analogues of glutamine. They block de novo synthesis of purine nucleotides by inhibiting incorporation of glycine and formate into cellular nucleic acids. Their toxicity to mammalian cells has restricted their use to that of anti tumour drugs.
