Puromycin

Puromycin - Puromycin is a structural analogue of the terminal amino acyl adenosine moiety of tRNA. It inhibits protein synthesis by competing with AA-tRNA as an acceptor of the growing peptide chain of ribosome-bound peptidyl- tRNA. This causes premature release of incomplete polypeptide chains. Puromycin is equally effective on the 70S prokaryote ribosomes and the 80S eukaryote ribosomes since the terminal aminoacyl adenosine is identical in both groups.
