Sparsomycin - This antibiotic is an inhibitor of protein synthesis in both 70S prokaryote ribosomes and 80S eukaryote ribosomes. Its site of action is the large ribosomal subunit (50S /60S), where it blocks the peptidyl transfer step. Sparsomycin is a competitive inhibitor of the puromycin reaction, and blocks this reaction. It also promotes fragment binding in unreactive positions.
