Cell wall appears thick and homogenous. Peptidoglycan comprises upto 90% of the cell wall hence more rigid. Besides peptidoglycan, there are teichoic acids, other polysaccharides and proteins in the cell wall. Teichoic acids are the main surface antigens. More sensitive to wall attacking antibiotics like penicillin.
