Chloroflexaceae - Green Filamentous Bacteria -I. Only one photosystem, PS I. 2. Photosynthetic pigments are BChl c (major) and BChl a (minor) in chloroflexus. Chloronema bas BChl d. β and γ carotenes and their derivatives are present. 3. Electron sources are H2S and organic molecules.

Major oxidation product is elemental sulphur. 4. Respiration is aerobic (oxygen respiration). 5. Genera: Chlorflexus (from hot springs), Chloronema. 6. Chloroflexus is primarily organotrophic. It can grow chemo­organotrophically under     aerobic conditions in the dark or light.
