Heterotrophsinclude photosynthetic as well as chemotrophic forms. The photosynthetic heterotrophs (photoorganotrophs) utilize the energy of light. The chemotrophic heterotrophs (chemoorganotrophs ) obtain energy from oxidation-reduction reactions.
