Breakage And Copying in Bacterial Recombiantions- The recombinant chromosome is formed by the breakage of one
chromosome, followed by copying of the other. Thus the two parental chromosomes ab+and a+b+produce a recombinant which contains ab+  and a+b+. The a section of one parent is attached to the b+ section copied from the other chromosome
