Endospore Formation Stage 7 - Lysis and Spore Liberation -

During this stage the spore is liberated by the autolysis of the mother cell.

No metabolic activity can be detected within the spore. Certain biochemical events like the synthesis of amylase (stage I) and of aconitase ( stage III) do not have any role in spore for­mation.

Mutants lacking the ability to synthesize these enzymes can also produce spores.

It appears that that the synthesis of the enzymes is the result of general derepression required for spore formation.
