A OR Maturation Proteins
-

A or maturation protein (MW 40,000) comprises 1-2% of the total protein. It appears to enter the bacterial cell along with the RNA genome.

It is probably present in one copy per virion, and is required for adsorption and proper assembly. It is essential for infectivity and is probably required for proper structural conformation of the RNA within the capsid shell.
