Recombination Genes

Recombination Genes
- Site specific recombination at the attP site is coded by two genes, int and xis.

General recombination at normal frequency is controlled by three genes, exo (red α) which codes for exonuclease, bet (red β) which determines the protein beta-and gam

(γ) whose protein inhibits host exonuclease V and allows phage growth in recA - hosts. Mutations of gam reduce, but do not abolish, exo and bet promoted recombination.
