Phages - The Ff group of phages are P-specific filamentous (helical) phages which adsorb to the tip of the P-type sex pilus. The fd, f1 and M13 phages are the better known examples of Pf phages.
The Ff virion is rod shaped. According to one model the protein coat forms a hollow tube encasing a single stranded circular DNA molecule. The protein shell has an inner diameter of 2.5 Dm and an outer diameter of 6.0 nm.
