Synthesis -
T4 DNA polymerase cannot synthesize DNA de novo. It is presumed that each step of synthesis begins with the synthesis of a short RNA primer. There is no direct evidence for the presence of RNA primers. RNA priming if present may be very short and or quickly erased by the repair type reaction
