Prohead II - 350S of Phage T4

Prohead II - 350S of Phage T4
- Prohead II (350S) has a polyhedral capsid formed under the action of gp21 and possibly gp24. It contains mostly gp23* which is formed by the cleavage of gp23.

The difference in the sedimentation coefficients between proheads I and II corresponds to the reduction when gp23 is cleaved to gp23 *. Prohead II also contains gp22, which represents 4% of the total protein, and gp20. IPIIJ, and presumably PI and IPII, are also present. Proheads I and II do not contain any DNA
