Malathion

Malathion
This insecticide is an example of organophosphates, all of which are derived from phosphoric acid in combination with alcohols described as esters. These esters of phosphorus have varying combinations of oxygen, carbon, sulphur and nitrogen attached to phosphorus. They are divided into three classes, the aliphatic, phenyl and heterocylic derivatives. They are degraded by Torulopsis, Chlorella, Pseudomonas, Thiobadllus and Trichoderma. Malathion is an aliphatic derivative with linear arrangement of carbon atoms.
