Entemopathogenic Fungi

Entemopathogenic Fungi
Fungi which produce spores or toxins are also mass produced in culture medium or on living hosts but the former method is more popular.

Among the different entomopathogenic fungi, the successful ones are Aschersonia aleyrodis, Beuvaria bassiana, Metarrhizium anisopliae, Entomophthora thaxteriana and Nomuraea rileyi. North America produces commercial products under the trade name 'Biotrol FBB' with B. bassiana and 'Biotrol FMA' with M. anisopliae to control scale insects, whitefly, plant hoppers, aphids etc.
