Aerators
The simplest and inexpensive type of waterfall aerator is the multiple tray aerator. It consists of about 4-8 trays with perforated bottom which are arranged at intervals of 30-50cm. Water is evenly sprayed over the upper tray through perforated pipes. When the water trickles down, the droplets are dispersed and recollected at each tray.
The trays may be made of suitable materials such as asbestos. Sometimes a layer of coke can be used in each tray which promotes the precipitation of iron from the water by acting as a catalyst.
