frameshift
mutations
resulting
from
the
insertion
of
nucleotides
can
also
be
masked
by
suppressor
genes.In
Salmonella
typhimurium
glycine
tRNA
contains
the
nucleotide
quadruplet
CCCC
instead
of
the
triplet
CCC
in
the
anticodon
position.
The
extra
nucleotide
permits
the
reading
of
four
nucleotides
in
mRNA
at
a
time,
and
thus
restores
the
reading
frame
to
the
original
position.
