Genetics Branches
For the sake of convenience of study, the modern geneticists have divided the science of genetics into following branches:
1. Microbial genetics-It deals with the genetics of microorganisms (viz., viruses, bacteria, unicellular plants and animals).
2. Mycogenetics-The genetics of fungi (Burnett, 1975)
3. PIant genetics-The genetics of plants.
4. Animal genetics-The genetics of animals.
5. Human genetics-The genetics of man.
6. Population genetics-The genetics of the different populations of animal and plant species.
7. Cytogenetics-It provides the cytological explanations of genetical principles.
8. Biochemical genetics-It provides the biochemical explanations of various genetical phenomena.
