In a heterozygote the inbreeding increases the probability of homozygosity of deleterious recessive alleles in a inbred population. In other words, one of the consequence of inbreeding is a loss invigour (ie., less productive vegetatively and reproductively) which commonly accompanies an increase in homozygosity.
