Phenotypic Ratio
The 3 : I phenotypic ratio occurs only in those monohybrid crosses, in which both alleles of a heterozygote (hybrid) have a relationship of dominance and recessiveness between each other, i.e., one allele completely dominates over the phenotypic expression of other allele of a heterozygote. In the absence of such type of allelic inter-relationship, the 3:1 phenotypic ratio of monohybrid crosses has been found to be modified variously, as shown by following examples:
