Bruton's Agammaglobulinemia

Bruton's Agammaglobulinemia

This was first described by O.C Bruton in 1952. Here B Lymphocytes fail to develop from pre B Lymphocyte cells in the bone marrow. The lymphoid tissues lack plasma cells, levels of all five types of antibodies are low or absent in the patient. and there are no antibody responses. This is sex linked inherited trait more frequent in males than in females. Artificially acquired passive immunity is the treatment.
