Chemotactic
Activity
Chemotaxis is the unidirectional migration of cells towards an increasing concentration of a chemical attractant. Antigen-antibody complexes which have bound complement have been found to attract phagocytic cells. Thus complement acts as a chemotactic factor. C5a, C3a, and C5b, 6, 7 complex are chemotactic for certain leucocytes. This promotes accumulation of leucocytes at tissue sites where immune reactions are taking place.
