Immunoglobulin E IgE

IgE consists of two kappa or lambda L chains and two epsilon H chains. Like the mu chains of IgM,the epsilon chains have an additional constant segment. IgE has a role in hypersensitivity reactions like allergic asthma and dermatitis. It may also be the cause of hay fever type allergies, and may function in the rejection of intestinal parasites.
