It develops when the immune system responds to certain microbial antigens, as bacterial agents of tuberculosis, leprosy and brucellosis. The fungi involved in blastomycosis, histoplasmosis and candidiasis. The viruses of small pox and mumps, and the chlamydiae of lymphogranuloma. T-Iymphocytes migrate to the antigen site and release Iymphokines which attract phagocytes and encourage phagocytosis. An important application of infection allergy is the tuberculin skin test for tuberculosis.
