This is considered a viral disease. We have already considered it in chapter 14. Here humoral immunity may also be altered. The number of T-Iymphocytes is sparse. There is imbalance between the helper T-lymphocytes and suppressor T-lymphocytes. Normally, the former type are twice in number that of the latter type. But in AIDS, the number of helper cells dramatically decreases.
