Process - The fermentation unit in industrial microbiology is analogous to a chemical plant in the chemical industry. A fermentation process is a biological process and, therefore, has requirements of sterility and use of cellular enzymic reactions instead of chemical reactions aided by inanimate catalysts, sometimes operating at elevated temperature and pressure.
