Chronic Diseases - Tend
to
linger
for
long
periods
of
time;
symptoms
development
is
slower,
climax
rarely
reached
and
convalescence
may
continue
for
several
months.
Infectious
hepatitis,
trichomoniasis
etc.
belong
to
this
category.
Some
acute
diseases
may
turn
to
chronic
if
body
is
unable
to
get
rid
of
the
parasite
completely.
Examples
are
giardiasis
and
amoebiasis.
The
individual
in
such
case
may
become
a
chronic
carrier
of
the
parasite
and
source
of
infection
to
others.
One
who
harbors
the
parasite
but
shows
no
sign
of
disease
is
called
a
reservoir
