Entry
The
avenue
or
portal
of
entry
refers
to
the
site
at
which
the
parasite
enters
the
host.
It
varies
for
different
parasites.
These
are
wound
for
tetanus,
intestines
for
dysentry
bacilli,
lung
tissue
for
pneumococci.
Some
have
multiple
portals
of
entry
as
the
tubercle
bacillus,
which
may
enter
by
respirator
droplets,
contaminated
food
or
milk
or
skin
wounds.
