IIIGlc-IIBGlc System - Sugar Specific Complexes

IIIGlc-IIBGlc System - Sugar Specific Complexes - E. coli and S. typhimurium. Glucose can, be transported by the 1IA/IlB system and also by a separate III Glc/IIB Glc system.

Methyl α-glucoside is transported only by the latter system. IIB Glc is a membrane protein. Like the IIB protein it requires lipid and divalent cations for reactivation. The III Glc proteins (MW 20,000) consist of three to four subunits.

The III Glc/IIB Glc system regulates adenylate cyclase. III Glc may also be important in regulating glycerol, melibiose and lactose transport systems
