Soil Pore Space

Soil Pore Space
Pore space is that portion of the soil volume which is not occupied by soil solid but by air and/or water. Pore space in soil is of two kinds: the macro pore space which has a diameter of more than 60 mm stores exchangeable air and the micro pore space which has a diameter of less than 30 mm stores capillary water. The texture, organic matter present in soil, nature of crops cultivated and the soil depth have a great influence over the soil pore space.
