Soil Structure
Soil structure is not a single entity. It is a complex of various physical characteristics of soil, like size of soil particles, pore size, hydraulic conductivity of soil, bulk density, etc.
Important Terminology
Soil aggregates Primary soil particles, sand, silt and clay are united together to form secondary soil particles which are called soil aggregates.
Ped A naturally occurring soil aggregate.
Clod Formed artificially by plouging a dry clayey land soil.
The arrangement of peds with respect to each other determines soil structure.
