Co - Transformations
If a plasmid lacks a selective feature its cloning can be brought about by co transformation with another plasmid. The second plasmid (indicator plasmid) should carry a gene permitting selection, and should be temperature sensitive with refer­ence to replication.

The selective characteristic of the indicator plasmid is used for selecting the transformed clone. The indicator plasmid can then be eliminated by growth at a restrictive temperature
