Sexduction

Sexduction
On occasion, the f-factor breaks free from the chromosome of an Hfr. cell and resumes an independent status. The Hfr cell then reverts to an P cell. Sometimes when the F-factor leaves the chromosome, it takes along a segment of chromosomal DNA. When the F. factor is transferred during a subsequent conjugation, the recipient acquires chromosomal genes from the donor. This process is known as sexduction.
