Antibiotic
Detection
Test-
The test is performed to identify the presence of any antibiotic in milk sample. It is likely that if cow is treated with antibiotics against some diseases as tuberculosis, Q fever, brucellosis etc., the antibiotics may persist in the milk.
A paper disc is dipped into the milk and then applied to an agar plate inoculated with an organism like Bacillus subtilis.
The presence of an antibiotic in milk will be indicated by the development of a zone of inhibition around the disc.
