Microcycle
Sporogenesis
Under
certain
conditions,
germinated
spores
can
be
forced
to
under
go
a
modified
process
of
sporogenesis
called
the "microcycle
sporogenesis",
first
described
by
Vinter
and
Slepecky
in
1965.
In
this
process,
the
germinated
spore
enters
the
sporulation
cycle
without
undergoing
cell
division
and
the
new
vegetative
cell
becomes
the
sporangium.
This
type
of
sporogenesis
has
been
found
to
occur
in
several
sporulating
Gram
positive
bacteria.
The
over
all
process
of
micro
sporulation
is
similar
to
that
of
normal
sporulation
except
that
the
spores
may
be
slightly
smaller
in
size
