Preparation of Blood Smears in Microscopy Method

Preparation of blood smears in Microscopy Method:
Detection of microbes in blood has a great diagnostic significance in clinical bacteriology. Blood sample can be conveniently obtained for this purpose by surface sterilization of the tip of the third finger with alcohol and making a puncture with a sterile needle. An excellent type of device is a small, sterile, individually packaged, disposable lancet available under the trade name of Hemolet. Two types of blood smears are widely used for the examination (1) thick blood films and (2) thin blood films.
