Fiji Disease Virus (FDV)

Fiji Disease Virus (FDV) - This virus causes disease of sugarcane. Galls arising by proliferation of young phloem cells develop along the vascular bundles on the lower surface of leaf.

The virus multiplies in the insect vector Perkinsiella saccharina (leafhopper). There is immunochemical evidence that FDV RNA is double stranded.
