Viruses - Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) is an example of a dsDNA virus. The virus is transmitted by aphids (non-persistently). Nodules are observed in cabbage infected with cauliflower mosaic virus.
Cauliflower mosaic virus is a large icosahedral virus with a diameter of 50 nm. It contains 15% DNA which is in the form of a double helix (MW 4.4X 106). The DNA is believed to be linear in situ but becomes circular after extraction. The virus probably has more than one protein shell.
