Reovirus Group

Reovirus Group - The Reoviridae have quasi spherical caps ids 60-80 nm in diameter, and their genome consists of 10-12 molecules of dsRNA.

The combined molecular weight of the RNA is 15x 106 daltons. Four groups are included in the Reoviridae, of which three contain animal viruses and one plant viruses.

(1) Orthoreorirus (reovirus) of vertebrates.

(2) Orbivirus of insects and vertebrates.

(3) Cytoplasmic polyhedrosis viruses (CPV) of insects.

(4) Plant viruses (vectors are leafhoppers).

a. Wound tumour virus (WTV)

b. Rice dwarf virus (RDV)

c. Fiji disease virus (FDV)

d. Maize rough dwarf virus (MRDV)
