Prokaryote
and
Eukaryote
Protein
Synthesis - There are several points of difference between eukaryote and
prokaryote protein synthesis although the basic process is the same in both
(1) In prokaryotes protein synthesis is carried out by 70S ribosomes with 30S and 50S subunits, while in eukaryotes the ribosome is 80S with 40S and 60S subunits
(2) In most bacterial mRNAs translations begins while mRNA is being transcribed on DNA. Degradation of the 5' end of mRNA can begin even before the mRNA has been completely transcribed.
