Radioimmunoassay
is
an
extremely
sensitive
serological
method
used
to
measure
the
concentration
of
low
molecular
weight
antigens,
like
haptens.
It
was
developed
in
1960s
and
since
then
has
been
adapted
for
quantification
of
hepatitis
antigens,
reproductive
hormones,
insulin
and
some
drugs.
This
test
also
is
useful
for
detection
of
tumor
viruses
in
the
body
before
the
appearance
of
tumors.
This
test
can
detect
trillionths
of
a
gram
of
substances.
