Cytological Stains

Cytological Stains
The stains described in this section are more complex than the stains described earlier. They are designed to detect and demonstrate specific cell structures, for example spore, capsule, flagella, cell wall etc. There are some stains which are specific to cell components and are also useful in demonstration of cell structures, like fat and glycogen bodies, polyphosphate granules, nuclear  apparatus etc. They are covered as a separate chapter under the heading microchemical stains. The demonstration of cell structure has great advantage in the in the identification of bacteria and therefore, it has a great diagnostic value in medical microbiology
