Staining With Cresyl Fast Violet

Staining with Cresyl-fast violet
This technique was described by Shepard in 1967 (13) and is particularly valuable for staining T-mycoplasmas. The method is similar to that of Dienes with only difference that the agar block is stained before applying cover glass. This is due to the difficulties in coating cover glass with cresyl-fast violet staining solution (S58). Colonies of both large and T-mycoplasma appear red to purple
