Details of the process
a. Impregnation with a liquid containing 0.5 percent sulphuric acid:

Temperature: 190°C.

Steam pressure: 12 kilograms/square centimetre.

Time of hydrolysis: 3 minutes.

b. Washing out the sugar on a continuous counter current bed filter.

c. The residue from (a) is impregnated with a solution containing 0.75 percent sulphuric acid:

Temperature: 215° C.

Steam pressure: 20 kilograms / square centimetre.

Time of hydrolysis: 3 minutes.

d. Washing out the sugar on a continuous counter current bed filter.
