Biological Algicides

Biological Algicides - Use of biological algicides to control algae is limited to lakes and ponds.
Algae are highly susceptible to predation by bacteria when they are short of food or experiencing low temperatures.
Inoculation of bacterial predators to actively growing algae has not been successful in lowering the standing crop.
There are certain viruses which are active against blue green algae and they can be used to control algal growth.
No viruses have been found to be effective against green algae.
