Recreational Water

Recreational Water - The standards for recreational waters are difficult to determine. Usually the coliform count is not allowed to exceed 1000 per 100 ml in bathing water. In swimming pools Pseudomonas aeruginosa causes ear, nose and throat infections in inadequately treated pools.
There is, only a little resemblance between the survival curves of E.coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in natural waters. Hence, coliform standard is of minimum use in the determination of potential Pseudomonas infections
